Matching front and rear tire sizes can simplify some ownership tasks, but a square setup does not automatically allow unrestricted rotation or establish a particular tire life. Mopar vehicles span different years, trims, drivetrains and wheel packages. Start with the configuration specified for the actual car.

Check more than the size printed on four tires
A square tire-size arrangement means the same nominal size is used front and rear. It does not prove the wheels are interchangeable. Different widths, offsets, brake clearance or mounting requirements can limit where a complete assembly may go.
Nor does one 275-section size describe every 275-section tire. The aspect ratio, rim diameter and full service description matter. No size on this page is approved for every Charger, Challenger or other Mopar vehicle.
Use the sidewall reading guide to record the complete information. Then compare it with the vehicle manual, tire data and wheel specifications before asking an installer to approve a change.
Establish the actual rotation plan
The 2023 Charger owner’s manual includes a rotation pattern and notes that directional tires can require different treatment. Its instructions should not be transferred automatically to a different model year or configuration.
Ask the shop to write down:
- Which complete assemblies can move to which positions.
- Whether directional or inside/outside markings impose restrictions.
- Which interval applies to the actual vehicle and tire combination.
- Which cold pressures apply after a move between positions.
- Whether the vehicle requires a TPMS position-learning procedure.

Keep an ownership record that answers the cost question
At installation, record the odometer reading, tire model and size, axle positions, date and itemized costs. At each inspection, record the pressure check, tread observations, rotation and any alignment or repair work. The monthly tire-care record provides a consistent place to keep those observations.
A completed set’s cost per mile requires both the actual spending and the miles over which the tires served. Tires removed for damage, a change of setup or seasonal storage should be identified accordingly. They do not establish normal wear-out mileage.
If comparing a square setup with staggered ownership, use equivalent time and mileage boundaries. Two separate axle purchases are not automatically twice the cost of one four-tire purchase. Investigate uneven wear before moving it elsewhere
Rotation is part of maintenance, not a repair for damage or an alignment problem. NHTSA’s tire guidance calls for regular inspection and professional attention to performance changes. If one tire is wearing differently, have the cause assessed rather than treating a different position as proof the problem is solved.
Use the balancing and alignment guide to prepare useful questions for the shop. A new vibration, pressure loss or visible damage deserves assessment on its own merits.
Shop after the maintenance plan is clear
